Nancy Thomas

Nancy Jean Thomas (née Nancy Jean Newman), age 51 passed away peacefully in her home June 1st of 2018. Nancy is predeceased by her Father John Charles Newman and survived by her Mother, Dorothy Wiber, Brother Daniel Newman, Daughter Rachel Caitlin Thomas (significant other Steven Kowalski), and Grandson Steven Kowalski Jr.

Nancy was an inspiration and friend to many. She loved her friends, her pets, her community and her new grandchild Steven Jr. She was an avid gardener, philanthropist, creative artist, and academic scholar (she studied Art History and achieved a Masters in Cultural Anthropology from Wayne State University), who loved very much to teach, learn, and bring beauty into the world.

She will missed very dearly from hour’s long conversations, her wisdom, wry sense of humor, joyful exuberance and love of life. Words cannot express the full depth of her character nor can they express how much she will be missed. While she is gone too soon, it is my solemn hope that her soul is now truly at peace.

A Memorial Service in Nancy’s honor and celebration of her life will be held, the time, date and location of which will be announced once determined. Please share or send any photos or stories that you may have of or about Nancy to remember her by.
