James Alvin Smelser

James Alvin Smelser passed away on August 11, 2024 in Macomb, Michigan, at the age of 66. Born on August 19, 1957, in Hazel Park, Michigan, he dedicated 30 years of entrepreneurship as the owner of his own roofing company, a testament to his industrious spirit and commitment to his craft.

James was not only a diligent worker but also a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed riding his bicycle, embracing the freedom and joy it brought him. Known among friends and family as a skilled pool shark, he often showcased his talents in friendly games, where his competitive nature shone brightly.

James leaves behind a loving family who will carry cherished memories of him. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Eric) Gavin, and his beloved grandchildren, Keean, Kyle, Journie, and Jaylon.

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughters Jessica and Jeanna, brothers Shawn, Brent, and Michael, and his parents James and Shirley. 

As we remember James Alvin Smelser, we reflect on a life filled with hard work, joyful endeavors, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
