James Christopoulos

James Christopoulos passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024, in his home at the age of 98. Born on February 2, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, James was known for his spirited nature, good humor and love of life. 

James gave his heart and life to Jesus. He regularly read the Bible and shared his favorite scriptures with others. He often quoted “Absent from the body is present with the Lord.”   His deep faith in Christ gave him a joyous life and positive outlook in all circumstances. 

James had a zest for life and an adventurous spirit. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time in the great outdoors. He also enjoyed golf, horseshoes and friendly competition with family and friends. He was a restaurateur, barber and had many skills. James often referred to himself as “a jack of all trades and master of none.”

One of James' greatest joys in life was his family. He shared a deep love for his wife Ellen, whom he adored and danced with throughout the years. Their 76-year marriage was a testament to their commitment and devotion to one another.

James is survived by two loving children, Sandra and George; grandchildren, Tina, Kali, Sarah, Justin, Jamie, Corey and Jordan; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his loving wife Ellen; children, Madelyn and Peter; grandchildren, Jennifer, Christy, Shane and Tiphany; and siblings Helen, Nancy, Peter, Athena, Katina and Bessie.

James is now and forever in the loving hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus. He will be remembered as a loving father, a devoted husband, and a Christian who embraced life with enthusiasm and an unwavering spirit. James will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Services to honor and celebrate James' remarkable life will be held at the Walter Scott Skupny Funeral Home & Cremation Services located at 28605 Gratiot Ave in Roseville, Michigan. A visitation will take place on January 24, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This will be followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm to commemorate James' life.
